SQL Server and ProClarity were selected as the platform to provide a rapid and cost effective business intelligence solution. This solution is intended to extract information from three existing systems and assist the organisation with:

• Management reports delivered via the web
• Dynamic drilldown analysis capabilities
• An MS SQL Server data warehouse with Analysis Services providing OLAP capability
• A publishing process enabling users to generate and publish information to the portal
• Daily scheduled upload from their back office systems ensuring data is current and valid

Like many of API Software’s customers, this organisation wanted to undertake some of the development work using their own resources; however, they recognised that they would require consultation at an architectural level along with developer training in ProClarity.

An initial workshop was held to allow API to get a clear understanding of the existing systems, the business requirements and establish the appropriate architecture for the new system.

Key questions addressed included:

• Current business issues
• Project planning
• Developing and building the new solution
• ProClarity Enterprise Server best practice

Training was delivered so staff can best utilise the functionality within ProClarity.

Subjects covered included:

• Basic and Advanced ProClarity features
• ProClarity Enterprise Server
• ProClarity Software Development Kit

As direct result of the workshop and the subsequent training, the organisation now have a better understanding of how they will be able to integrate the disparate systems and provide management with Key Performance Indicators as required.

In addition, they are now capable of exploiting the software development kit to build their own customised web portal solution.  API Software continues to provide on-going consultation and advice for this organisation.
